“With the growing focus and concern of the environmental impacts of plastic pollution, many companies are looking for solutions to reduce the amount of plastic packaging used and ensure that there are effective recycling programs available to consumers. Syngenta has been on the forefront of this concern for over 20 years. When we recycle used plastic containers it ensures that our containers are recycled in a way that doesn’t pollute air, land, waterways or our oceans. Responsibly recycling plastic containers ensures that they are not burned or placed into landfills,” said Scott Birchfield, senior health, safety and environmental manager at Syngenta. “Making new plastic products from the used containers replaces raw materials, saving oil resources and energy while avoiding other potential environmental concerns.”
Syngenta is proud to partner with the Ag Container Recycling Council (ACRC), a complimentary recycling retrieval program for plastic pesticide product containers. This program helps customers achieve their goals for more sustainable packaging use.
For Syngenta customers, recycling empty plastic containers is as simple as it is rewarding. Here’s how:
- Ensure agricultural, professional and commercial containers are completely empty, thoroughly rinsed and dried.
- Remember and communicate: CLEAN means CLEAN with no residue seen!
- Locate the nearest ACRC location by calling the ACRC at 1-877-952-2272 or by visiting ACRecycling.org. The ACRC handles agricultural container recycling activities in 47 states across the country, including the newly added New Jersey.
- Take the container to the nearest collection location.
After inspection and collection, containers are shipped to ACRC contractor facilities to be washed, ground up and prepared for sale by ACRC contractors to approved end users. This recycled plastic is repurposed into ACRC approved non-consumer products. The program provides easy access to responsible recycling for over 3.2 million pounds of Syngenta plastic containers per year at no cost to customers.
Syngenta also provides no-cost recycling for used plastic pesticide containers that can’t be managed through the ACRC program. This program recycles over 1 million additional pounds of used plastic annually.
Syngenta will pick up 10-gallon and 30-gallon LinkPak™ containers for recycling. Call the customer center at 1-866-SYNGENT(A) (1-866-796-4368) to request this service.
“Giving customers the opportunity to participate in a dedicated recycling program with the product manufacturer ensures that we all know exactly where this material is going,” said Stephanie Neese, national bulk manager at Syngenta. “Customers want to keep their places of business tidy by removing decommissioned containers while knowing where these plastics are going. We give them an easy way to do both.”
As Syngenta, we are fully committed to the sustainability of our operations and products. Providing customers with simple ways to responsibly recycle pesticide containers contributes to our sustainability goals.
“Because this program is complimentary, participation is easy and helps customers achieve their environmental goals,” said Birchfield. “We all want to do everything we can to ensure our environmental footprint is as small as possible.”
