Snow Fences: When the Snow Comes

With relativey mild weather over the northern United States and northern Great Plains during the holidays, snow fences may not even get a thought.  However, installing snow fences is a potential method for reducing desiccation on putting greens.  By allowing the snow to accumulate behind a snow fence, a natural cover is provided to the green.  A snow cover helps reduce the potential for exposed sites to be exposed to wind, sun, and fluctuating temperatures.  It also provides for some protection against cross-country skiers, snowboarders, and snow mobiles by limiting access to the green complex.  Something to think about doing during the current weather pattern.
